Hello BMW friends. I read this topic and I have a question for you. I had to add about 1,3 L of oil in 10.000 km, I think that is about 8.000 miles. I have 520i E60. I'd like to know if that is normal at this type of engine if I drive a little more agressive? Could you help me please with some answers?
I forgot to tell you that my car has 110.000 km on board.

It's way out of normal for a M54B22 engine and for any four stroke engine!

That's about the amount for a 2-stoke Trabant.

When did you last service the car at a BMW dealer?

I serviced it about 4 months ago when I had the oil changed.
Since then I drove 10.000km. The Idrive asked 2 times in this period to add oil. First I added 1 liter and then about 300 grams. But from what I read here in this forum it is absolutely normal and I saw that this happened to guys with cars much newer than mine. I now have 110.000 km on board.
So isn't it normal?
Can anyone help me with some answers please? I am begining to worry....

You should.

Have you noticed that there would be any leakes under your car?

Look into your motor compartment, does it look oily anywhere?

I keep my car in a garage and I have no leaks what so ever - none under the car and none in the motor compartment...
As I read in many topics in this forum I understood it is very comon and it happens to a lot of people....Or am I wrong?

I think it's more common for brand new engines when they're getting their first miles/kms (0-10 000km) on the road.

That doesn't sound good. My experience has been the opposite. My new engine gulped down maybe about 1/2 a quart during break-in, then I had the oil changed. I've had subsequent oil changes now at 10,000 miles and 17,500 miles and the oil level has been stable throughout ... I check that virtual dip stick frequently.

You should have your dealership look into it.
The virtual dipstick. Why not use the real one. I never trust that Idrive dipstick.

Just had to add oil for the 3rd time to the car before the first service. This time, the dealer added 2 quarts. This time, it got to the warning point where it advised not to drive the car until oil was added - WOW.

If I wasnt leasing this car, I'd be really concerned. This seems a bit ridiculous, if you ask me, after just 9300 miles.

Are you noticing any exhaust smoke? When you hit the accelerator hard do you see blue smoke at all? 2 quarts seems like a lot of oil to add.

Any other opinions? Is this oil consumption normal? As I said before, I have no leaks what so ever....
