Hi
I have a 2004 545i with an SMG transmission. For a couple of months now while driving the engine starts to misfire and after about 30 seconds its back to normal
- No fault codes
- Battery checked and is ok
- If i stop during the misfire and turn the engine off, it won't start up again
- Typically after a couple of hours it will start again
- Mechanic suggested that it might be the communication between the key fob and CAS module
- Tried both keys and they both have the same problem
- Replacing the CAS module is rather expensive since you have to buy a new one
Any thoughts will be appreciated

The CAS. 😂 what codes were thrown? Many things can make that issue (coil, injectors, alternator, wiring, ECU). We need the codes to help you.

I'm going to tell you the best info you need in this situation. Don't let anyone talk you into spending money without a code or message. You will just be throwing money at it.
I had a shake for 6 months with no code. I finally got one and needed to change a coil so I decided to do all of them. What I did was travel with my tablet that had INPA on it and when it through a code a I check it before turning of the car. Sometimes looking a soft messages will give you the answer but those messages go away with a restart of the car.
