Make sure the left/right selector switch you use when adjusting the side mirrors is set toward the driver's mirror...

I'm confused whether the initial post is saying it "wants to go down", meaning that it IS, or whether this is a typo and is meant to say "won't go down", meaning it should but isn't...

I am in a jan/feb 2004 uk spec 5.30d SE. It has electric folding mirrors but it has never tilted the passenger side mirror when reversing.
So I took it to my dealer a few days ago and asked them to ..
1) Program the mirrors to auto fold and auto unfold when locking and unlocking the car - They did this without charge and all ok.
2) To program the pass mirror to tilt down when reversing - They told me it was not possible on this model ????????????????

You need to have the Electric Seats with Memory option on the Standard or Sports seats, or the Comfort Seats which include the Memory option. Without the Memory option, your car will not be fitted with the correct "Memory Mirrors". It is not simply a software change, they are different mirrors.
So zimguy, don't worry -- your mirrors are working correctly!
