I have been lovin my car recently with the recent gas prices. I drive from Scottsdale,AZ to Orange County,CA in less the 3/4 tank, over 400 miles. I bet I could get 600+/tank if I tried real hard, thats mostly freeway miles of course.

I'd love have a diesel so I could point out to Prius owners that my car is more environmentally friendly. hehe
Pretty much anything's more friendly than a Prius when you take into consideration the carbon footprint needed to make one and then scrap one.

New BMW owner. A 2004 530i. So far... 60 days... I'm extremely happy. It is the ULTIMATE DRIVING MACHINE!
So far I'm getting 20 to 21 miles a gallon all commuting to work and back. Mostly stop and go but with a few stretches at 55 mph. My average speed is only 27 mph tho.

Here's the problem... my OBC says that I'm getting 24 to 26 miles per gallon. Anyone else find a difference in manually calculating miles driven by gallons filled up? Should I have my computer checked or can it be adjusted?

The tires are stock so I know its not the wrong size or anything.

The day I see my 530i even come close to 400 miles per tank....I'll gladly cough up the $3.65+ for gas with a smile on my face. Most the time I get a 360 reading on a full tank which drops dramatically because AC is a necessity. I guess D stands for distance....

815 miles range / 765 miles actually driven
details below

As I proudly mentioned around here on several occassions already, my 520d consumption stabilized at the final level of 6,5 L/100km on daily city-Stop'n'Go + fast daily motorway driving (whenever possible 180-200km/h on autobahn Trier - Luxembourg), which I find a quite good result, however on few longer trips (3000-4000km) without too much effort I managed to go down to even better 5,5-5,7 l/100km, which which only few want to believe...
During the last ski trip to Swiss Alps somehow I managed to achieve unbelievable 5,2 l/100km. Don't ask me how I did it though, I guess that French and Swiss strict speed limits had a lot to do with it
Well, anyway having 3 people on board + 3 full ski sets incl boots + 3 sets of baggage I find it an extraordinary result.

Below: photo taken just after a long vacation trip (via DE, BE, NL, PL), averaging 5,66 L/100km and achieving easy 1230km on one tank!

from FR:
consommation = average consumption: 5,7 L/100km (+/- 45 mpg)
autonomie: range = (according to the onboard computer) 1312km (about 815 miles)[/
distance achieved on one full tank before the fill-up: 1230km (about 765 miles)
