Can somebody describe how the seatbelt works for a person sitting in the middle of the rear seat?

It should be "parked" on the rear shelf just next to the center headrest. You have to fasten the end to a coupler on the seat. From there, if you can't figure it out, post again or RTFM...

Clearly, there is some confusion as to how to operate the belts. At this time, my advice is to read the manual.

(Note that there is a difference between the standard and the fold-down rear seats -- my earlier reply assumed the fold-down seat since there is an extra step to get the belt connected.)

Your passenger probably took it and pulled it across his body. But it has to be plugged in on the left hand side of the passenger sitting in the middle, and then pull the second one over. It's a regular seat belt...

I can't tell from Iceman's description if he's saying the same thing or not -- I think Stoley has fold-down seats and never connected the bottom of the belt to the seat. If so, they'd pretty much have a shoulder belt with no lap belt...

Is that what Iceman and Merv are saying too?

Yes, of course, Rudy!

He pulled it down from the shelf and across his body, I think.

The fold down seat version just has the seat belt anchorage points spaced out more the seat belts still work the same as the non fold down seat cars. Its impossible to pull the belt across your body and not have a lap strap! Unless you're sitting on it
