Fully synthetic every 7,000 miles. Doing it earlier is really a waste of your money. I've read a lot about it and talked to many different mechanics and all of them agree with this. Fully synthetic will not show signs of degradation before 7k.
On the other hand, BMW having the audacity to recommend changing your oil every 15,000 miles is complete and utter lunacy.
