Hello Guys! I got my microfilter changed by myself DYI about 1.5 years ago!!, just took out and replaced it. Now I went to do a brake fluid flush ($132 tax included). Dinan BMW Certified guy said my microfilter only has 15% life left and need to be replace BUT my idrive said I still have 12,000 mile left before changing it?

My Car is 2004 525i with 57K miles on it

Q: What should I do? listen to Dinan BMW Certified Technician or follow idrive?

Q: If I decide to change microfilter, which one increase the horsepower and make my car faster?

Thank you guys so much for your feedback, Appreciate your time E60 members!

Hey,

I actually ordered a pair of aftermarket micro-filters since I didn't want to pay the $115 BMW was charging me. Anyways, long story short, I now have an extra set, brand new.

If you're interested I'd do $50/pair shipped to you for them.

FYI the microfilter is your in cabin air filter that filters the air, it won't make your car go faster. Are you talking about the air filter?

After my car sat in the shop for over a month for collision repair, my car needed new climate filters. Really smelled funny when you started the car, until that was replaced. just open it up and look at it, if it looks disgusting to you it's probably time to change. not that expensive and easy DIY.

I don't see how that affects horsepower. Dinan tech is probably talking about the intake air filter, which does not have a mileage indicator in the service-I usually replace it with the engine oil.

Why did he say you needed to replace it? They are ACC Cabin Filter Activated Charcoal.

if it were me.. id take a look at the microfilters myself..if it looks dirty then replace both of them...you can always reset the idrive mileage once youve replace the filters... if the filters look clean then leave them in.. me personally i would change it either way cause i like doing everything based on the mileage of the car whether it needs it or not. hopefully this helps.

Omg. R u serious????

Do you know anything about car??? Why don't you search what microfilter is on google before you post something like this.

Microfilter does not change anything . No relation to engine..

U r saying as is having airfreshener will make car faster

next time before you post something please google it first instead of people answer your question
