If you are talking about the cabin filters, there will not be a performance increase... and short of changing your air intake, I do not think any air filter will increase performance enough for you to notice...

I agree with the others on the performance deal. It sounds like you're talking about the cabin filters. Stay OEM either way you need to go on the air filter. When it comes to intake filters there are lots of options but the problem is they use oils and other lubricants in their filters with which your engine was not designed for, stick with OEM. Great OEM site to buy any type of filter: http://www.germanfilters.com/

+1 I think you're talking about cabin air filter. I do not agree with above poster. I've been running K&N for 10 yrs in BMW engines without a problem. The only thing to watch out for is excessive oil on the filter when shipped from factory. Good to wipe the filter down with a paper towel first to absorb any surface oil.....or if you have an air compressor blow it with a lower psi to loosen the excess oil from the filter. I have a spare K&N for an E60 I was just about to post in classifieds.

Performance Mods: None yet...

microfilter is your cabin filter. i picked up two (2007 550) requires two, and replaced them myself. Its so simple to do and takes 5 minutes tops...they are located under the hood at the very top of the engine compartment. they are only to make you breath better, cleaner air. This video will show you how to do it..very easy.

Yes you will have to do a "reset" in your service menu to clear the message in your I-drive.
