I know BMW OEM parts are expensive but it can't be that much difference, can it?

So exactly what is the difference between the carbon micro filter and the cabin filter here?

I've bought from here and I know the Porsche community buys from here too.

Active Carbon filter helps eliminate odors vs the regular paper filter which just blocks out dust.

I got the TYC Cabin Air Filter for BMW 5-Series from Amazon.com for about $30 delivered. Go to www.amazon.com and put "tyc cabin air filter for bmw" in the search box. Select the item for the e60 models (there are several types listed). They are the activated charcoal variety.

For better pricing, check out eBay. There are a few reputable sellers that carry the filters for E60 (both carbon and non carbon).
