Hey Guys,

I just purchased a set of Megen Racing coilovers through Cal@Sonic MS. He told me that the coilovers should be getting to me by the end of the week or so. Once everything comes in, I'm going to write reviews on the product and take some picture of the installation. Since there aren't any reviews on the forum for Megen Racing coilovers on our E60, I've decided to take one for the team. I hope that this review will help people out in deciding whether this coilover system is or is not for them.

hey ted. you should have asked me or law about the megans! lol anyways gl with the megans, looking forward to your review. what are u going to do with the race springs?

Haha my bad Jasper. It was kind of spur of the moment. Thanks man... hopefully these work out well. I think once I install my coilovers, I'll sell off my H&R race springs. They have served me well, but I needed adjustability. Know anyone that needs any race spring for the e60?

Coilovers came in on Friday and I will be attempting to install them tomorrow once I wake up. I'll try to get pictures and reviews up shortly after.

Curious on the review. There are others in SoCal that has your car but with Ksports. You guys should meet up and compare notes.

Alright, so I ended up installing the Megen Racing coilovers yesterday.

This is a picture of the coilovers once I opened up the package. It was well packaged and none of the coilovers had space to move around. The first thing I did was jack up the car and place jack stands underneath. Next, I took off the wheels, which exposed the suspension system. The front suspension system was held in place by 3 small screws (13mm i believe) which can be seen after you open your hood.

After removing the 3 screws on top, I wiggled the front suspension until it kind of dropped down and then I pulled it out of the wheel well. The front suspension is still attached at the bottom and there are two large screws that needs to be removed. After you remove the two screws on the bottom I wiggled the suspension out and completely removed it.

This is a side by side look at my OEM shock + H&R springs versus the Megen Racing coilovers. To put the coilovers in, I just did the opposite of what I did to take them out. I placed the coilovers into the bottom portion of the suspension system, then tightened the two bolts. After tightening the bottom portion, I tightened the three bolts up top to keep the coilover system locked into place.

By this time, I had been running out of time and it started to get dark so I couldn't take any photos. I did my best to install the two rear coilovers before it turned pitch black outside. For the rear coilovers, I had to open the trunk lining to reach the three bolts that held the top part of the suspension. After I had removed the three top bolts, there was one really long bolt that held the bottom. This was a bitch to take off because it was stuck. I had to take a breaker bar and wedge it between the socket wrench and something sturdy and used all my weight to break the bolt free. Once I had gotten that bolt off i pulled the stock suspension out and placed the coilovers into position and bolted everything back together.

For the Megen Racing Coilovers, there are 32 levels of dampening. I set them to 12 all around.

0 - 9 for track use
9 to 16 for mountain/aggressive use
16 to 32 for normal everyday

My friend said that I should put the coilovers to the same dampening all around. What is your guy's take on it? Stiffer on the rear coilovers?

I'm still waiting for the suspension to settle so that I can adjust them to the height I want to dial them in. When I first took the car for a 15 minutes drive after installing the coilovers, I noticed a big difference between the springs and the coilovers. When I had the springs on, my car drove smoothly on flat roads, but once I hit bumpy roads, my car would bounce around a bit. With these coilovers, my car seemed very stiff, but resisted bouncing at the same time. I haven't taken my car on spirited drives yet so I have no idea how they would handle when put under a bit of stress, but so far so good. When I took it for the drive yesterday, I drove it very slow so I can listen to see if there were anything wrong with it. There were no clanking or any unusual noises from the coilover system. After driving it around for a little bit and playing around with the settings, I'll write some more reviews on it. If you guys have any questions about the suspension system, you guys can send me questions through PM or on this thread and I'll try to answer you guys the best I can.

NICE! Please post what settings you have them on and post a ride review! :two up:

Doh...didn't see the previous post

Were they fully extended when you installed them? I guess what I'm asking is if the ride is lower, higher, or the same as stock if they are set fully extended.
