After following this forum for some weeks with much interest, I hope to claim "full rights" effective from today. Because, ...today I picked up my brand new toy, the E60!

Here are the specs (remember: less packages in Europe):
550i, carbon black/black dakota, steptronic, (Euro) M package with M aero kit, M suspension and 135 M wheels,
adaptive bi-xenon, active steering, moonroof, comfort seats, comfort access, nav pro, logic7, CD, HUD, PDC and some petty things. Still looking for accelerator/brake pedals to match the aluminium footrest, no other mods planned.

Due to a late streak of winter with quite some snow, I didn?t get chance to give her a decent whipping yet, as the car was delivered with summer "shoes". Pics will have to wait for sunnier days, too.

Ride definitely is really smooooth, without lack of power, I don?t miss my 911 till now!
Oyster IS happy!

Welcome. Do you still miss your 911 after the E60 purchase?

It?s my third day with my new E60 and I?m missing my Porsche less and less.

Of course the P gave me much more of a sportscar feeling and I have to get used to seating several centimeters higher above street level, but the additional torque of the BMW gives an impression of abundant power and actual performance is sufficient for daily driving anyway. And the brakes, where I was a little unsure beforehand, are biting like my 911?s did.

There?s plenty of room, where in a P you always rub elbows with the co-pilot, make compromise for the seat position so your head doesn?t touch the doorframe and your knee doesn?t touch the dashboard etc...

The seats are way better, the radio/hifi is a different planet (although I had the Bose option in my P), all the electronic gadgets are more sophisticated. I think this is probably because the 996 was designed in the nineties, whereas the E60 truly is a car of the new millennium.
Only the sound of the Porsche I?m missing, but on the other hand you could?t hear the music above 4000 rpm anymore and had to yell at the co-pilot.

For sheer driving pleasure (like in "toy", "3rd car in the family" or "racetrack") I?d go for a Porsche again every other day. For normal driving (like in "my car", "going on a golf trip" or "go-to-work") the E60 is a better choice.

Welcome aboard the 550 train. I know you will come to appreciate the 550 even more as you break it in and the weather warms up enough to more vigorously apply those summer shoes. Thanks for sharing your initial impressions ... now for some pics please.
