BMW Group vehicle sales this May were up 8.7% when compared to May of last year as the result of a good month for the 3 Series and the X5. YTD sales for the first 5 months of 2007 were up 4.2% when compared to the same period of 2006.
Sales of the X Series increased 4.5% while car sales were up 9.0% when compared to last May. This month marks the second anniversary for sales of the E90-E93 3 Series in the United States.
Sales of the BMW brand were up 8.1% this month when compared to last May.
Total Mercedes Benz sales of 21,771 units this month represents a mere 0.7% increase in sales when compared to the total of 21,621 sold in May, 2006. YTD 2006 sales for MB are also up only 4.8%. MB truck sales were down 4.1% in May but up 21.7% YTD when compared to the respective periods of last year.
Lexus outsold BMW and Mercedes-Benz again this month with total sales of 31,847 compared to 26,689 for BMW and 21,771 for Mercedes-Benz.
Please note that I report only United States sales data.
