Although I did read the manual when I picked up my car, I must admit that I read it quickly and certainly not cover to cover. I was driving the other day and I thought, it would be nice if the car switched from high beam to low beam without me having to flip the switch and I find out (by reading the manual) that it does. Who else has realized something about the e60 after months/years of ownership? (Note: I picked up my car in November, but it along with my manual, were in the repair shop for 4 months, so I do have a little bit of an excuse... kinda)

I suppose I should continue reading.

BOOOO! I'm calling you on this one man. You should have gotten that manual and memorized it with four months of idle time! You should be the new guru by now.

No f***ing way man. The last thing I wanted to read about was how great my 535 is as it sits in the shop while I drive a pos Chevy Impala. I seriously hated getting the monthly letter that said... "thank you for your prompt payment"!!!!

Many things for me. There were some things I never did know how worked on either of the BMW's in my sig (now disposed of). I read the manual with a tad of care at the outset. But, typically, if one doesn' apply what is learned pretty soon, perhaps with a little repetition, then the knowledge goes away. One of the first things I learned is that BMW manuals are neither overly accurate nor overly complete (he said euphemistically).

Does this feature actually work on your '08? I have an '07 550 and it doesn't work. I don't recall if I read it in the manual or elsewhere but I've read this feature wasn't operational in the U.S. Interestingly, I just received the BMW magazine this past week and it had an article on this subject that read as though this would be available on upcoming U.S. models.

One thing the manual hasn't explained to me is what happens when I'm driving along around 40 mph, and then when I literally floor it and it hits the bottom, it seems as if there's a button underneath the pedal that I'm pressing. I can't quite explain it as I just found this out a couple of hours ago just 5 minutes away from home, but I dunno what it does. It seems as if I down shifted or something since the engine makes this weird sound and doesnt stop until I finally press the accelerator again.

I am not sure what you might be feeling. I wonder if some metal might even be flexing. Really, I don't have much of a clue. What I do know is that when flooring a car, there sometimes is a tendency to push very hard to get every possible fractional g out of the car. Try flooring and not pushing extra hard, assuming you are. Flooring doesn't take much push once the pedal hits resistance.
