My Ride: 2006 550I Manual White/Black 6Speed Sport
Default

I recently posted a request for information on break in recommendations. A viewer asked me if I noticed anything different from my 545 to 550I. So here is my thoughts:

1) Shifter is different and seems to be shorter and more ergonomical.

2) Shifter gate is much tighter and feels more manual than the 545 which was very flimsy

3) Clutch seems to be similar although gear engagement is much smoother

4) Hill assist acutually works (when release break, the car holds its place avoiding it to roll backwards)

5) Idle Surge (when sitting at light, when you re-engage clutch, the RPMs surge roughly 500rpm to just under 1000K

6) Engine displacement is different so power curve is more even and longer

7 FASTER!!!

Congrats!

1) At least the iDrive has some leather, the gearbox is trimmed. Improved!

2) Newer car, better feel

3) See 3.

4)

5) It should sit at 600 - 700 rpm

6) A fact!
