Thumbs up

I have read how to make a MP3 disc (cd-R) with itunes and I made my first disc today. I only can fit approx 126 files on the disc. I am doing something wrong to only fit 126? What is the Max to fit on a CD?
Thanks

Compared to the 12 to 15 tracks (on average) you can fit if you use uncompressed CD audio that's pretty good. It's all about the file size and bit rate, but with compressed audio smaller isn't generally better. I'd be much happier with 50 tracks at a decent bit rate than 150 at a lower quality.... A regular CD holds around 600 MB to 700 MB of data so your limit is simply what you can shoehorn into the available capacity.

Thanks, just wanted to make sure. Someone told me you can hold 300 MP3 songs on a CD.

It all depends on your compression which correlates to your file size and to the quality of your playback. If you're willing to sacrifice sound quality, you can compress you files more and therefore, have more songs on the disk.

A normal CD-R should fit about 200 songs if they're compressed normally.

It all depends on the length of the mp3 and the bit rate used. I have 112 songs using 563 MB, each mp3 encoded at 192 Kbps. I figure that I can fit in another 20 - 25 more songs. Perhaps you can fit 200 if you're using 128 Kbps bit-rate MP3's.

I just burnt a DVD+R with 110 songs on it, and they are just my most all time favorite song (320kbps). It's just about 1.1GB of space.
It's wise to use DVD double side(?) which can store 8GB of music.

Yes, dual layer DVD discs do work. You can learn more by reading the following:

Can I change the Kbps rate once the songs are in Itunes?

You select the rate at the time of recording (converting) original to MP3 encoded format. Once recorded at 128, 192, 256, 320kbs, etc that "file" cannot be changed. However, you could re-record your material from the original source at a new selected rate if you so chose.
