I had the exact same thing happent to me. It happend less than a mile from the dealer, so went there so they could take a look. The service manager and tech stood there scratching their heads. They said when the car goes to sleep in 16 minutes it will shut everything off (battery drain fail safe). It did shut off, and has not happend again.

I have had my 06' 550i for 2.5 weeks (only 1500 miles on the ODO) and the AC went crazy. Basically, the AC is currently out of my control. I can't change the speed on the AC nor can I switch it off competely. The worst thing about this is that the AC continues to blow after the car is off and the key is out of the car. The recirculating air timer was NOT activated neither. The dealer looked at it today and said that they have just recieved a bulletin from BMW about this matter. It seems like a software issue that is causing the AC to keep running. The AC will continue to run for 16 mins after the car is off before it shuts itself off. They say there is no fix as of right now until the new software comes out. I am not in a good mood. Didn't spend $60k+ for a car that don't run correctly. I only had it for 2 weeks. Anyone else experiecing the same problem? This is ridiculous, my 03 E320 has glitches and I thought the Bimmer will be better, I guess not. I am disappointed.

Thanks for the help guys. Good to know I am not the only one with the problem. I guess I am going to have to just deal with the problem until the fix is out. I will let you know when that comes.
