Major oil leak

I am a newbie to the world of bmw so I just brought a 2007 530i with 150k miles car drove fine and nice for a few days then while I was driving my steering wheel went real heavy and hard to turn so I pull over and pop the hood to see oil all over the left side of the engine bay the belt slip off with oil all over it any suggestions what could be leaking

Power steering hose? Driver side or passenger side? Check power steering reservoir.

Did you check the power steering reservoir? Heavy steering may mean broken power steering hose!

it’s steering heavy because the serpentine belt slip off due to the oil leak

oil filter housing gasket? check it. IT might be dripping all over your belts and creating slippage or worse

That's a huge sudden leak
Listen to what others advice is

Check your power steering fluid level
If it's empty then you know it's a hose probably

Jack the car up and put it in safety stands
Take if the lover plastic and metal cover

And you will find the problem

I see a lot of oil residue build-up in the oil filter housing and green fluid (on air box). Your oil filter gasket and one of the coolant hoses could have been leaking for some time and got worse.

Clean up the mess with simple green cleaner (non bio-gradable to other plastic also) and start up the engine to look for obvious signs of leaks.

Cover up the alternator, get it "correctly" cleaned before it gets damaged. Don't get the alternator wet!!!!
