I purchase my certified pre-owned '06 550i with 49k miles in July. I'm approaching 60k. My question is this: Do I need to get a 60k service? Also, how often should I be expected to get a standard oil change?

your car features computer-based service (CBS). In other words, the car's computer decides when you need service, based on your driving pattern. There is not a typical Miles/Months service schedule.
Push down the iDrive button, select Service and cycle through the various service items*. Some will be mileage-based (oil change, microfilter, brake pads), some will be calendar-based (brake fluid flush). Another interesting note: BMW apparently considers 100,000 miles as "lifetime"; so at that point, everything needs a refresh...transmission, differential, spark plugs, etc. *This is the sequence on my 2004 e60. PS: you have an owner's manual, right? If not, pick up an electronic version from the "information" section on this forum... |
