Exclamation M54 Engine Realibility

Hello,

I have a nearly 10 year old 2004 525i automatic which has the M54 engine and has 150K miles on it. I have owned the car since 100K miles and have only done basic maintenance.

I am at a cross-roads trying to determine if it's time to part ways with the E60 because I am worried about it's long-term reliability. It has the M54 engine. I haven't had any serious issues yet.

I am wondering if the M54 engine is considered reliable among the BMW E60's?

M54 is one of the greatest of all times, but it is not without flaws. No engine is.
