Ummmm I think the standard 550i Sport wheels are 172's, the M5 wheels are 166's (not 100% i'm sure others will verif).

Correct, on your 550 you'll be switching from 172's (standard on 550 sport packages) to 166's (M5 wheel).

Does anyone know what I should expect to pay to have the standard 550i Sport wheels swithced to the M5 Style 172 wheels?
172s are now the stock wheels on the 2008 550i Sport. They do carry an M badge on them, but they are not the M5 wheels.

Style 166 are the wheels on an M5. If you want these, new ones are expensive ~$2,000, but refinished OEMs run about $1,250.

In prior years, 124s were the stock wheels on the 545/550 Sport. (I'm guessing this is what you have now?)

BUT , The 172s are an M wheel , just not M5
Very sorry for my confusing question. I guess I didn't get enough sleep. I am switching the 172s for the M5 166 wheels. I was able to get them switched out for $940. So it sounds like I did ok.
I was told to expect my car on Saturday, which would be GREAT! It is suppose to be about 108 degrees, so I will be able to give a report on the value of the ventilated seat option. While the A/C in my 645 is very good, my back still sticks to the seat on longer drives. I am hoping that this will no longer be an issue.
