My Ride: 2004 BMW 645 black sapphire metallic, 19" Style 166 (245/40 & 285/35 w 15mm spacers)
Default

My previous car was 530i with sport suspension (with Dyn. drive) and now I own 525d with M-sport pack (so default with M-sport suspension) and it seems to me that ride height was lower on my previous car. Does anyone know what are the ride heights for M-sport and sport?

Thanks,
Allar

Hi Allar, my sport as your previous one is dropped w 1,5 cm, and M sprot suspension w 2 cm. But when cars are next to me (E60) at the light it seems I am much lower than those with M...

I seem to recall reading on this forum that the non-M Sport suspension (aka DD or ARS) constantly changes its height due to how you drive. For example, members have reported that after a drive and they park their car, one side on the car may even be higher/lower than the other side. So I guess the height of the non-M Sport suspension is deceiving if you try to eyeball it from outside the car.

The wheel/tire size set up also affects the ground heights.

You can't compare the cars without the same wheel/tire set up!

It shouldn't, at least not materially. The Outside diameter of the wheel/tire setup should be extremely close, ideally about 3%, in all sizes, whether they are 20" or 16". This would ensure no problems with ABS computers or speedos. The only difference wil be in the footprint and the aspect ratio.

But this is an interesting question that I have been wondering about for a good while. I still would tend to think that USA would get higher ride heights than other markets, and wonder if the other market springs would be lower than USA while stil providing better ride quality than most of the aftermarket springs, which in my opinion, are oversprung for USA. We had good success on the MB side of things with Euro spec springs on USA cars, seems it might be that way on BMW cars as well. Just wonder if there are different part numbers out there....

Ok since you are using the OEM spec. tires. My 545 came with OEM rear tires 245/40 R18 = 653,2 mm and I changed to 275/35 R20 = 700,5 mm.
47,3 mm is a considerable difference.

I was only reminding this detail.

If their e60 has dynamic drive package , it can definitely sit differently.
