I left my car for about 5 days at an airport lot while on a business trip. When I got back and started the car, the Low Oil Warning message came on in I-Drive. It said that driving the car could do damage and to add oil. I just had my car in on a service call to have the v. 25 upgrade and adjust HUDI so this surprised me since I assume they check things like oil levels when the car is in for service. I called my SA and he told me that when the car sits for awhile the oil drains out of the level sensor and it takes some time for it to read the level accurately. He said that there is probably no issue and to run the car for a while longer and see if the warning message disappears. I did it and the message did indeed disappear and the oil level screen showed normal. The problem has not repeated.
Is this normal and has anyone else experienced this when leaving the car for a number of days?
Thanks!

Wasn't after leaving car parked for an extended period but have gotten the Low Oil warning. Can be sporadic if oil is only a bit low. If it does not come back you should be fine but if it does, go to the dealer and have them add a quart.

its happened to me in the first 1 month of driving with the new engine and such but never from sitting. I just dumped a quart of castrol syntec in but in your case good you called the dealer and waited or you would have an overfill problem-sounds like its not an issue. If it ever happens and according to service they said it is normal to burn a quart every 5-7k miles if you drive on the harder side just dump a quart of bmw synthetic or castrol syntec in there or go get it topped off at dealer but that seems like a hassle to me for the 6 bucks it takes to dump a quart in

After I got CIP 25 my oil sensor asked for refill too.
It never happened before.
