Low oil pressure, what do I do?
So I have an e60 550i and it has around 118000 miles on it. A week or two ago I got the classic low oil warning on my iDrive system. At first I brushed it off because it did not pop up after turning the car off then on again. Another week or so has passed and I just got it again. Being the second time this has popped up, I was very worried. However, when I got home, I turned the car off, then back on, and the earring did not pop up. I’ve been driving another car sense then just in case, but I’m confused as to what’s going on and I’m worried if I’m going to have to drop a lot of money on a new oil pump or something. I would love some experienced/ expert insight on my situation. Thank you.

Are you talking about low oil pressure or low oil level? At any rate, check the oil level using the dipstick or i-drive and act accordingly. If low oil pressure, then have the oil pressure switch checked. Could (probably) just be a faulty or leaking oil pressure switch.

Low oil pressure isn't due to a low oil level. If your oil were low enough that the pump scavenged all the oil out of the pan before enough came back to suck up again, your oil pressure would drop, turning on the oil light/iDrive sensor, then come back.
Check the switch, or have a shop test it with an actual gauge. The switches can also fail and leak, which can simulate a short. It's at the front of the passenger's side head, under the vacuum pump (N62).
