low oil
You may have a valve cover leak. Do you smell oil around the engine or see what may look like steam when you park or sit at a stop sign. If you are frequently putting oil in the car as much as you say their is definitely a leak and definitely signs of it.

Remove the plastic shields under the engine area and look with a flash light. If you don't see any visible leaks, then we'll have to assume that the engine is 'consuming' that oil. If you do see oil leaks, trace oil to the source of the leak. If you can't tell where it's leaking from, clean the entire area with engine degreaser or brake parts cleaner and check it after few days.
I don't know what the miles have to do with it but I change my oil every 10000 to 12000 and I have only had that issue once at 80000 miles and it ended up being a valve cover gasket. My vehicle has 94000 miles and it has not ever burned oil like that and I am a hard driver.

At 300 miles a month, having to add 1 qt of oil for every 2 months (600 miles) is a LOT. If you don't see any visible leaks under/around the engine. Then, definitely, engine must be consuming... If I were you, have an independent mechanic diagnose internal oil leak.
Personally, I think having to add any oil between oil changes is too much. You should not be adding oil to the vehicle between cycles at least that is not the norm for me. If I have to add oil to any car between cycles then there is an issue and if it cant be fixed then I would get rid of it.
what do you mean by internal oil leak
