Two weeks ago I had low dust brake pads installed in my 550. I bought Axxis Deluxe for the fronts and since they were not available for the rears, I bought C-Tech. My car was last washed on Thursday so I woke up today and before I went out to the car, I grabbed a pair of rubber gloves and a few shop towels to go through my twice weekly ritual of cleaning brake dust off my wheels. I walked out to the car and to my surprise, the wheels were clean!! They were not spotless, mind you. Upon close inspection you coud see a tiny bit of dust that was only really noticable when I wiped them with my finger. I would estimate that dust is down well over 90%, making my purchase well worth it.
For anyone who is interested, they can be found at http://www.zeckhausen.com So far, performance wise they have worked flawlessly. I followed the website's instructions on how to properly bed them in and the only difference I see is not having to clean my wheels constantly. Well worth the $330 they cost me in parts and labor.

Just curious: do these pads have the same feel as the OEM pads? In other words, to these GRAB HARD when you press the brake pedal down 1/4 to 1/2 way?

I also would like to know how the pads feel compared to before. How many miles have you driven so far and whether you think the pedal feels softer or more responsive? I also wonder if they are rated to last as long as the factory pads? With only 300 miles on my car so far I am also frowning at how bad the dust is. Within 75 miles after a cleaning they had changed into dark grey wheels.. and I had coated them with 'wheel wax' to try and help.

I guess I have put about 500 miles on them and they feel pretty much identical to the factory pads. Also the dealer said that they will warrantee the brakes without a problem so if they don't last as long it's not an issue. I will just have to have another set installed. I had Axxis Deluxe on both my 328 and my M3 and loved them. Seems like the only difference is the dust.

Jeff, Get this just call my dealer to ask how much labor would be to change them out.. They won't do it if it's not an authorized BMW part. So if your dealer did it... I'm wondering if I could some how get a copy of your work order to prove that other BMW dealers are doing it..
I know there is a privacy issue so maybe you could block out some of that info leaving enough for them to get the picture.. Let me know if you think you can help out. Thanks

I didn't ask my dealer to do it. Any competent independent shop can do it easily in about 1-1/2 hours. I used Motorworks West in Wyckoff, NJ. If you want to fins a specific BMW shop go to www.bimrs.org When I said that the dealer will warrantee them, I meant that they will replace them with factory pads if they wear out. It will also not affect my brake system warrantee.

Jeff:
Thanks for the update -
I'll probably join you with the Axxis Deluxe Plus street pads when my pads are due for a change. I would appreciate any info - good or bad - as your mileage with the pads grows.
Thanks
John
