Loud Car Noise in my 2008 550i
I have had my this car since about 2009 and knew the first owner. I do not remember it being so loud in the beginning. One day it was pouring rain and a little flooded. I drove to the store and back to my apt and when I got back all of my lights were going crazy, windshield wipers wouldnt turn off. Anyways got it taken in, seems like there was a leak in my trunk and got water in my computers. It was pretty expensive but I believe since then it has been loud. It sounds as if it is reving high. It sounds like I am at 3 or 4 when I am only at 2 RPM. I have some Nexen z rated tires and just got knew ones so I do not think it is the tires. Anyways I do not know if I lost any power with this. I do not know a way to test it or see what the noise is. It just seems like when I am driving around it is pretty loud unless I turn up the music. Any ideas or tests yall can think of? I get my car serviced regularly.

Did you ever replace your sunroof seal after the computer fix? That's where a large majority of outside noise comes from. It's a DIY and you can get the improved seal from the dealership for $28. Since it seems like you might keep your car outside, the elements will wear out the sunroof, windshield, and rear window seals on these cars pretty fast...

Does it sound like noise from the exhaust?

noise
It sounds like my engine reving to high but I look at the RPM and its low. It seems like it is loud mostly in the lowest gears. The re sealing sounds like a great idea because they are starting to wear out. I do not believe its the seals though but it will be a good start. The low gears just seem to be so loud and when I get into third or fourth im guessing it quiets down. no idea??

I don't know man, the only other thing i can think of is maybe an exhaust leak somewhere like Onetime mentioned. Or maybe part of the intake has come apart? Hard to diagnose without seeing in person/video...
