I'm pretty sure it is under warranty, the guys at my bmw dealership are all pretty cool, the service manager usually goes out of his way to take care of me. He didn't specifically say but usually if it is going to cost anything he would tell me.

I'm going to talk to the dealer today and see what they say. I wonder if this is coincidence or if there are many others with this same issue.

I also had the problem of a very brown door handle compared to the dash. Had the piece replaced under warranty. The new piece doesn't match perfectly (it's very neutral grey/black compared to somewhat golden undertones in the dash), but it is very much better than it was before. I guess using real wood (with it's natural variations) has it's drawbacks. If you want perfect matches to all piececs pick aluminum!

had my car at the dealer this morning, they had ordered new door trim pieces for me. But bad news is that they didn't match they ended up being worse. Explanation was because it is real wood it is hard to make color perfect and with the new pieces the grain was even different where as you can tell that all the current trim is from the same tree due to the same grain pattern. so I guess I will just have to lilve with the difference.
