Looking for ideas and suggestions
I have an 05 545i with smg. The problem I am having is that every time I start the car, it reacts differently. I will start it and it will run and drive perfectly and everything works. The next time I start it, the idrive will constantly reboot, but the car will drive fine. The next time, it will give me the increased emissions warning, the trans will be in failsafe mode and wont go into gear, but the idrive will work just fine...etc, etc.
I have replaced the battery with a brand new AutoCraft Gold 95R/H9 battery and registered it to the car. I have checked all the fuses. The 2 ideas I have are to see if the alternator/voltage regulator is bad, or that the smg pump motor may be going.
If anyone has any other ideas, please let me know. Thanks!

Thanks for the reply. I have a Foxwell BMW code reader. Im thinking about getting INPA and trying to learn it.
When the check engine light has been on, it has shown codes:
29FE for DME: Secondary air system,
9C55 for IHKA: Fogging sensor,
A391 for TCU Fault: main telephone aerial
It also showed 4F6F (not present) SMG: Hydraulic pump activation
I haven't been driving it very much at all due to the issues, so I will scan it again tonight.

I scanned the car and it seems just about every code possible came up, lol. I have no idea where to even start. I do have a voltage reader in the cigarette lighter and it rear 12.3 volts when I turned the key forward, then it stayed between 14.0 and 14.2 volts once I started it. The increased emissions warning came on and it went into trans failsafe mode. Here is the list of codes:
Present:
29FE - DME: Secondary-sir system
29F5 - DME: Catalytic-converter conversion 2
4F6F - SMG: Hydraulic pump activation
CE93 - AL: Message (steering-wheel angle top, 0C8)
A46D - CID: CID malfunction due to peripheral
9C55: IHKA Fogging sensor
9C54: IHKA AUC sensor
A391: TCU: Fault, main telephone aerial
Not Present:
2B71 - DME: Variable intake system
2B72: DME: Variable intake system, temperature warning threshold
6140: AL: Redundancy comparison, driver steering angle, top
6145 - AL: No monitoring of angle sum relation
9D12: SINE: Internal battery
FFF3: MOSTSYS: MOST system analysis: 1 fault found
9E34 - PDC: Wire, ultrasonic sensor, rear right
93FC - SGM- SIM Undervoltage
Any ideas of where I should even begin?
