Hey folks, I'm looking at picking up a CPO 2008 535xi. Is there anything in particular I should be concerned about or keeping an eye out for when looking at cars?

Ideally you will want a car that is still under original 4yr/50k mi BMW warranty. This way you can address any issues that come up without paying the $50 deductible. Also, some equipment (like the NAV) is not covered under the CPO waranty.

As others have said I would only buy a used one if it still had some sort of warranty.

Huh?
Yup, definitely buying CPO and shooting for under 50k miles, so it would still have some of the original warranty left before the CPO warranty kicks in.

Dont forget tires, brakes and battery too as they will be wearing out and just about to die in a 4 year old car. Check the windshield for rock chips and the moonroof seal for cracks and windnoise. When I bought mine, I checked all surfaces (bumpers, hood, windshield etc to have the BMW logo to rule out any damage). Just because its a CPO, dont assume that it will not require any maintenance stuff right down the lane.

+1 on checking HPFP. Does the 535 engine have the high pressure fuel pump HPFP? If so, that's another item to check and see if it's been replaced or if there have been any issues. Issues around HPFP seem to be a pretty common thread on this forum. Don't recall exactly which engines/years had the more common issue with it.

You have a good point and you make wonder since I'm also looking for a car. Does it make more sense then to find that's less than 4 years and has less than 50k miles and purchase the BMW Plantinum Extended Warranty? I know it's pretty expensive but this at least covers you NAV and other electrical stuff.
