I am looking to buy this 2008 BMW 550i with 12000km (preused) and it is clear plus certified warranty (160.000km/6 years).

Attachment 50208

it has:

6 Speed Automatic Trans
Six-Disc CD Changer
USB Audio Integration
Technology Package
Lane Departure Warning
BMW On-Board Navigation
Head-Up Display
Voice Control
Canada-US Navigation DVD
Premium Package
Comfort Seats, Front
Heated Seats Rear
Park Distance Control
LOGIC7 Sound System
M Sport bumpers

but no Sport Package (the tires are 4x17 - 225, no sport suspension, etc..)

So I wonder that can I put customized or oem sport suspension and stuff?
and performance tires (255 front and 285 rear) on this car ?

Please advice,
I would like to see some interior pictures, especially the steering wheel, gear shifter and seats. It looks like sport w/non-sport wheels.

I think your right, the car has shadow trim on the doors. Get those photos of the interior to us quick. We may be able to make a better determination as to sports package.

The BMW Canada website and 5 series brochure states the M-sport is standard for the 550i in Canada. Possibly why it isn't listed as a line item.

For 2008 all 550's in Canada came standard with Msport package and 19" 172 M wheels. Those look like winter wheels/tires and I would confirm with the dealer that the 19's are included in the sale but not shown in the picture.

I believe this car has the sports package and these are snow tires, this is a fully loaded car P.S. it has 24k not 12k for the mileage. Here's the link for the interior photos, it has the M-Sport steering. I doubt you can order all these options without the sports package. Good Luck, it's a nice car, if I was buying it, I would pull the service history and try to understand why is it up for sale this early, unless it is a demo then it make sense.

I'll bet the previous owner installed a winter tire package (or it was done as a dealer swap) and the original wheels and tires have been stored or installed elsewhere!

Also I asked the salesman abotu the Sport Package and he said no but told me it has M bumpers....

How do you know if the car has sport package or not? Wheel steering?

I don't know.... but this is an authorized BMW dealer. I doubt they swap the tires.

Not just tires ... it's common to replace the sport wheel/tire set-up for a more appropriate wheel tire combination in northern climates.

I'm not suggesting the dealer is trying anything unethical. Even dealers here in warm Southern NJ will offer a wheel / tire package because the ultra-high performance summer tires are not recommended when temps and snow fall. It may be that the original owner bought one such package - as was suggested, the service records for the car will probably show that if the work was done in a BMW Service Center.

And if it was, maybe you or they will locate the original owner to see if they are available. That way you'd have both a spring/summer and a fall/winter tire setup!

I'm convinced THAT IS DEFINITELY THE SPORTS PACK WITH DIFFERENT WHEELS. I WOULD KEEP QUITE AND BUY IT LIKE THAT.

If they find out it has the sports pack they might charge you more.

-It's got shadow line trim

-sport steering wheel

-comfort seats

-m-tech pack

and winter tires on the wheels, those are not the original wheels.

Do a carfax on the car and make sure it's all good before you buy it.

Good luck...
