Sure, I'm biased a bit owning one ...But one of there reasons I bought an LCI E60 in 2012 was that it still looked like a current auto design.
Many other later cars copied some of the 5's significant styling cues: wrap-around tail lights ; wrap-around headlights ; slab-sided yet 'flame-surfaced' side panels ; large front grills/intakes ; Detailed, hi-tech tail light designs when on (think LCI) ; technology that is still competitive with today's offerings (minus the new "safety" trend of lane-keeping/adaptive cruise/.etc. ) The proportions of the car are classic and sporty. The entire design is clean and simple (in a good way) enough that, combined with the trend-setting design aspects mentioned above, it still looks current. Plus it was the last distinctively-styled 5 series ... the F10 and G30 are more global/Asian in design, and subjectively are more anonymous. They look like an Infiniti, and the 3, 5, and 7 look nearly identical these days anway. |
I think E60 looks like it was designed after F10 and G30.
