Logic 7 Sound settings

There is a big sound difference between normal, concert and theatre modes. I actually overall prefer the Theatre mode but I do toggle between the three of them. Even at home I prefer listening to music in Prologic 2 Music mode (or the DTS equivalnet). I also like Meridian Audio's Trifield mode quite a lot which just runs the front three speakers. Plain stereo is a touch boring to me now.

So do the modes only direct the sound to the appropriate speakers? Also, does anyone know the effect to the equalizer if you make adjustments to the bass and treble on that screen?

O.K., Since so many people like concert hall, I'm going to try it again. Maybe I can get past the little bit of added echo now, which I thought in the past to sometimes be "tinny" sounding.

Logic 7 Concert Hall is the way to go.
However, the backseat folks get hosed because they are relegated to hearing surround speakers.
I switch to normal mode when I have passengers.

Without getting technical, I'm finding that the Logic 7 effects vary according to the source material. Sometimes the Concert Hall provides an annoying level of right - left channel separation, while the Theater sounds just right. Other times the Concert Hall is the only way to go. This difference exists between different CD's and the radio. Not sure what's happening here, but hope that it's not some kind of software malfunction. While this is about the best OEM car audio system I've heard, it's hard to justify the additional $1800.

Maybe this is just in my head but it seams like the subwoofers are more in tune when playing CDs. When the radio or SAT are used the bass is louder and sometimes needs to be adjusted down.

That's because of compression, and the filters that are added on FM and SAT stations. FM and SAT have to assume that most folks don't have a great sounding system like our cars have. Therefore, they run them through compressors and EQ the signal heavily so the signal can reach farther (less bandwidth), and then they pump up the bass so folks with 5.75" coax in the doors only will get bass. (Most folks corolate bass with good sound...eesh)
Also, SAT sounds like crap. It's so compressed for again bandwidth and bitstream considerartions, and then compressed signal wise for the broadcast...don't get me started. Hey, I love Sirius. I love Fox News, EWTN, NFL, NHL, all the stuff I can't get locally, but the music quality is marginal at best. At least they don't mess with jazz too much.
CD's don't do that. Yea, they do some funky stuff on regular discs, but a well recorded disc will sound great on your system. Grab an old Bluenote recording. Even if you don't like the jazz, your jaw will drop by the clarity. For me, (my home system is WAY more than 1800) the money is well worth it.
I have Levinson gear at home, and the Lexus system is nice, but it doesn't have the smoothness of the Harmon Kardon.
Truth be told, the best sounding OEM system was 9 years ago when Subaru was using Macintosh gear. Stunning.
Now, I need o go listen to some records.
