Default Locking Alarm

Picked up a 2005 530i almost a year ago and it's starting to have a lot of problems. One of them is when I lock the car with the key fob it doesn't give me the alert anymore that it locked. When unlocking it, it would beep twice(which it still does) and when I lock it, it would beep once(stopped doing) anybody ever have this problem before? If so explain on how to fix!

I believe in most situations if you don't get the lock confirmation it is because the car is sensing something is open like a door, hood or trunk.

Make sure everything is shut and then try relocking. It could possibly be a faulty sensor in one of those places that could be causing the car to think something is open, but if that was the case I think you would get a warning saying it was open when you started to drive.

All that being said, check your idrive settings first to make sure somebody didn't change it to not beep when locking.

Just checked and everything is shut. No alarm saying that anything is open. I went into settings, Door Locks, confirmation. It gives me four options.

[]Flash when locking
[]Flash when Unlocking
[]Acoustic confirm. When Locking
[]Acoustic confirm. When Unlocking

I have all of those checkboxed but the only one that doesn't work is the flash and acoustic when locking

Thanks for the reply btw! Glad to be ok such a great Fourm!

Also make sure the audio conformation is set in iDrive. Could have somehow been changed.

Double checked and triple checked. Everything is how it should be. Just not getting the acoustic or the flashing of the lights whenever locking

When you arm the system, is the clown nose on the lower side of the inside rear view mirror giving the slow blinking? This is a further confirmation the system is armed.

Ok so I went out and did it this morning. it was blinking slow. I then unlocked it and locked it again.

Then the red nose blinked about 10-15 times fast then it stops and the blinking goes back to its normal slow pace

The system is detecting a system problem and then goes on to arm the system. First guess, absent BMW error codes being pulled, would be a security system switch not working properly. With any luck, it might be the switch under the hood, on the passenger side cabin air filter tray. Open the hood and locate this switch and check out its installation and function.

That's was it!!! I remember the switch but it totally blew right past me on how that could be the problem. The switch was pushed down and wasn't in the correct spot.

Just to be sure that it was ok I pushed the little cylinder/button down and locked my car. I beeped and the lights turned on once.

Thanks to everyone replying and helping me with this problem!!
