I vote for "Stripped" 550 also. Like said above... a stripped 550 comes with a lot of stuff alread. Including Premium package, SMG (*if you want it*), PDC, Ambient Lightning (*or was that part of the premium package?*) But any case the 550 comes std with enough stuff.

Oh darn. Now -I'm- off topic.
Sorry, I couldn't resist that one.

Go for the 550i. Like you said, the 550 comes with more standard features. Don't make the mistake I did! The 3.0L six, although a great engine, feels inadequate when you really want to open it up...

My Ride: My ex-ride: EU '08 LCI 520dA. Space Grey, Sport Seats in Black Leather/Fabric Anthracite, Sport Steering Wheel, A/C with Extended Features, Hi-Fi Speakers, Cup Holders, Cruise with Braking function, Folding Rear Seats, Xenons, Park Distance Control.
I would not call the US standard 550i bare.
My choice would be the 550i!
PS. One always finds the money to a car!

Would you guys choose a loaded 530i or a bare 550i? Lets say that becuase there are some must have options on the 550i, the 550i is still more expensive by a few grand.
