Dealer said that because of the size of my wheels and tires, i might have to live with TPM malfunction light on all the time.... does that sound right to you?!?!?

Fronts are 245/35/20
Rears are 275/30/20

dealer tech said that becuase the 2 differnet sized is comfusing the computer about revolution and the front and back are not matching so that light wil always be there.

They are taking it in next week to do a full diagnosis on it but he said that its a posibility that i might have to live with it or go back to the stock sizes.

I presume you didn't have the problem with stock sizes?

The same thing just occured to my car. I installed 245/35/19 F and 275/30/19 rear. Is this stupid TPM warning permanent? Anybody have any updates or remedies?

I did some searching and found out that in 2007, BMW switched to a TPM from a FTM. The latter based on the rotation of the tires. The new TPM, uses sensors in each tire. So, that's why we are getting a malfunction message. Anybody know if the OE sensors can be switched to the new wheels?

So wich system is better or causes the least error messages?
Also bmw 5 series from te begining came in staggered option so that means all that bought it staggered would have to get the message?

dawyeah, your tyres are too big (F 245/35/20, R 275/30/20).
At 20" they should be 30 profile front and 25 rear.

But 245/35/19 F and 275/30/19 R should be OK.

The car comes Sport OEM with 245/40/18 F and 275/35/18 R and no problem
with the TPM should occure.

At least the old system uses the ABS brake sensors.
When the rotation speed of the tyre changes from what is set up
the warning goes.

Have you guys resetted the iDrive?

I get a lot of false warning in the wintertime do to my really soft wintertyres
and/or wheelspin on slippry conditions.

With my summertyres I never get false warnings.

my is a 07 TPM model which has the sensor on the valve it self and not the drum. The sensor doesn't fit my new rims valve stem. I tried to reset the iDrive with no luck

Yes, my dealer just told me about the sensors in the valve stems. so no matter how manytimes i reset the TPM, its just not going to work. They are seeing if they can have a stem sensor installed on my wheel and tires.
