at the light

Hi all,

I recently purchased a 04 545 with 114K on it and have been reading/searching thru the forum, but havent came across with anyone posting any info about these two issues. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated...

The two issues that are driving nuts right now are

1. its starting to make this rattling sound from the front passenger side. This happens if the AC is off. It first started only when the vehicle is in drive or reverse, but now even while park. So far if it happens when stopped at a light I have to turn on the AC or MAx cool.

2. while in park if i turn the wheel to the left, i get this ticking sound like somethings loose
it also happens if im turning into a parking lot and theres maybe an slight bump, i get a knock sound...

im about to get me an extended but wanted to knock out these minor issues first....

By the way did I mention this cars a beast!!!!!!!

Hey ras545i,

I am no expert in cars but from my experiences I think I can help you:

1 - is there something rattling? the rattle could be caused by the vibrations from the engine at a lower RPM causing a loose bolt or panel to rattle. When in drive and the hand brake on, just press on various panels around the area the noise is coming from and see if it stops :)

2 - this sounds like a CV joint, my car is doing the same. mine 'clicks' every half a steering wheel rotation in most cases, sometimes it doesn't, but mainly when I'm driving very slow, or pulling into the garage it does it. It could be the steering column from what I've read in some posts, but if the noise is coming from the front end of your car its possibly the same issue as mine.

Hope this helps,

Matt

I was thinking possibly bushings or the ball joint on the tie rod end.
