I use Rhino ramps, which historically worked great on my front and all wheel drive cars, but when I try to used them on the Rear wheel drive cars (525, and Porsche96 ) the ramps slide forward everytime I try to make the car drive up.

I must have a very slippery garage floor. Am I the only one with that issue?

I've had them slide slightly when in the garage, but not so that the car didn't go on up them after a few inches. You may need rubber mats or something to give a little more grip. I do oil changes in the driveway (slopes down making the car almpst level when on ramps). Never had it slide at all on the asphalt.

I bought some floor mats at Target (nylon carpet on top, grippy rubber on bottom side). I place the mats on the floor and my Rhino Ramps on top. No more sliding.

Thanks, some grippy matts sound like the way to go, and I've got several around. Don't know why I never thought of it, but I appreciate the response.

I was going to do my own oil change, but I got nervous about going under the car with only a single jack keeping me safe.
Never, ever get under a car supported by just a jack. Also don't have the car "hover" over the jack stands - in the event the jack fails, the car will come down hard on the stands. If they aren't positioned perfectly, the stand could move, which would be bad. Also, jack stands aren't designed to take sudden loads like that - who knows what would happen.

I jack mine using the center point at the front, then put stands under the front side points, and lower the car onto the stands (and remove the jack). If you don't have a low profile jack, you may not be able to reach the center point from the front of the car. In that case, put down some wooden blocks and drive the front of the car onto them, which will lift the front end up enough so you can reach the jack point. Make sure you leave the blocks there - if you don't, when you lower the car you will lower it onto the jack which would damage the car.
