Here in the UK we pay a fee that goes towards the upkeep of our roads, it is based on the engines emissions.

Is that the same as the US version of renewing registration?
If so, mine is $388 in Cali.
Other than that we pretty much get taxed for everything!!!

Oh I see, thats what I thought, maybe they call it something else in the states. Anyways. does the money look like its going to good use? How are the roads there overall?

BAD!, there forever doing roadworks and the repair jobs are awful. Theres a general feeling in the UK population that the road fund money is not actually used on the roads but is spent elsewhere.

225 Euros / year here in Malta, but over a period of 14 years its always increasing by some 50Euro/year, so after 14 yrs it becomes quite high (800+). I guess its a government incentive to change car every few years :thumbsdown:
