What about kids in the backseat...
And it's faster when you can open the trunk before the passenger is back there...
Erm, let's be pragmatic

1) The kids should all be buckled in, so that's no problem

2) If you are too impatient to have the passenger open the boot themselves, you have issues

Then I have issues!

When I drop someone off at the main station, what I do sometimes, he goes back there and opens the trunk, closes it... I have fingerprints on the trunk, the traffic behind me has to wait until he has closed the trunk, and maybe it's not closed at the first time. Also all doors are open and I am an easy victim for carjacking...

Now, I know that this is a worst case scenario... But I don't feel comfortable how it is right now. And I don't understand why it's on a US spec E60 and not in a German spec E60... I have no understandng for it...

Actually, the thing I like most about the aspect of the door unlock button function is that the lid actually pops itself fully up and open. It sounds pretty lame, but when one is approaching the car with boxes or bags from the grocery store, it's great to hit the button as you approach and be able to just lay the items down inside without the need to place some on the ground while activating the handle underneath. It sounds silly, but really does make for an easier step.

I wish it were included in all country's models!

Iceman mentioned it but I'll emphasize it.

Call me crazy but I don't allow anyone to close my trunk because I'm the only one that closes it without touching the paint. Since my 1998 E39, I've never touched the paint when closing the trunk. Once you get the inside handle technique down, it's all you ever have to do. I don't like fingerprints, smudges, or small scratches in the clear coat from people closing the trunk so I always jump out and deal with it myself.

Okay, I'm a fanatic -- who didn't already know that?

I'm gonna learn that technique too.. On my old 330 I also had scratches on top of the trunk and didn't understand where they came from. Now I know it was the old fashioned way of closing it. Thanks for the tip, very usefull!

Sorry Ice, stole one of your smillies

That's funny, Rudy. I've just finished my trip to the supermarket and had to give my wife "the look", because she didn't wait for me to close the trunk and she left her fingerprints on the trunk lid...
Are we brothers ???
