my previous E46 coupe had a torch in the glove box. the E60 has the charge point but no torch, is this now classed as an accessory i have to buy ? seems a bit odd if BMW have suddenly decided to charge for what is essentially part of the safety kit...oh well suppose i'll have to buy one just so it looks *right*
I am in the uk so not sure if other countries get the torch for free or not ?

that is pretty Shi++y if you have to buy the torch. I am glad it came with my car but that is just rediculius. Does it really cost that much to not throw in with the car?

well, it seems to come in the US and Germany, but not the UK according to our very limited poll. Northernmonkey, I might talk to my dealer about the missing torch. Perhaps it might have been over looked at the factory. If nothing else you would think they could throw in an $8 USD accessory with your purchase!

Those things had a way of dissapearing in showrooms across the USA for years.
Maybe you need to visit us over here, pop into a dealership to "check out" the new cars and see if you can "find" your flashlight in one of them!

My dealer told me that UK spec's excluded the torch now - I'd actually taken my car back to complain about a few things two days after purchasing. When the guy told me it was now a priced accessory, I looked at him so incredulously, he went and nicked one from a demo model. Silly really - I only ever used the torch on my 3 Series about twice in three years !

I'm in the UK and I got one with my car. As DrT says I don't think I've ever used this little torch but I sure would be peeved if they hadn't supplied one. More stupid cost cutting!

I think BMW stopped supplying the torch as standard on all their cars during the price rise in February/March 2004. I got my torch as it was built in 2003.
They'll probably stop suppyling the first aid kit or warning triangle next in the next cost cutting and price rise.
