Anybody have this problem before?
I have a message in the I-Drive saying Left Brake Light Failure but when I press the Brake pedal the brake lights come on?
How can I get rid of this message?

Mine has said it continously for 2 days.
Did yours stay like this and turn off again? Or is it just randomly coming on sometimes?

My guess is your light is about to go. On a previous BMW, I had this same issue. I was driving near the dealership on the second day, and just popped in. They replaced the bulb (under warranty--obviously I could have done that myself otherwise), and told me that right before the filament burns, a sensor detects something (I have no idea) and pops the warning so you have a chance to replace it before it actually becomes a hazard. True or not, a new bulb fixed the warning.

mine comes randomly on random days. It probably is going to go out soon, im guessing.

Could it be that one of the two brake lights on either side is broken or loose? The one that comes on only when you brake hard? I recall that most of us have two-stage brake lights? I'm not sure, because I haven't found any evidence that I have two-stage brake lights on my 520d LCI.

Ugh! I had this problem continuously with my old e39 323i for about a year. I took it to an auto electrician who fixed it within 30 minutes. He simply added an extra earth wire to the brake light assembly, tucked it under the floor mat and screwed it into the trunk floor. Never had the problem again.

Cheers,

virgil

This happened to me before....pull out the bulb, clean out the socket, reinstall the bulb, and the error message should be gone! :geek: When the slightest bit of corrosion is present in the bulb socket, the resistance increases and the error message is how you find out, my local dealership (Rusnak...Losers) immediately wanted to setup an appointment for a repair complete with a loaner car, instead of just FIXING it on the spot!
Good Luck and let us know how it turns out!!

+1. This happened to my previous E39 a number of time. I suspect the same will be with the E60
