Left brake lamp malfunction

I just got this "left brake lamp malfunction" error today. Anyone else ever had this?, is it CPO repairable or a simple DIY? My car is 2005 545i,

Check your bulbs and inspect the sockets and connectors for corrosion.

Got this once...briefly. I popped the trunk, pulled away the side cover and checked the lamp. It was loose... you could have a loose one or maybe even a burned out filament... just take a look - its probably the easiest thing you will have to do to your car and the error message will go away if you resolve it.
