I've used Lexol leather products on my cars for 20 years with great results.

I have used the product BMW sells at the dealer with good results. It's a kit including applicator etc.

I don't know the best method necessarily, but I use Meguiar's leather wipes given inspiration by "the" auto interior maintenance/repair guru in Phoenix. Easy and effective is an excellent combination to me.

I second the Lexol products... cleaner first and then conditioner. Lexol vinyl & rubber for the dash back of seats, etc...

I have used some products from griots garage (www.griotsgarage.com) with success on my grey leather E46 and intend to do the same on my '06 530i. The seats held up better in the hot tropical environment, especially since I have to park uncovered for work.

As a general leather (interior) cleaner I use a mixture of 1 part Woolite to 5 parts water. I spray this on a microfiber and then wipe the leather as needed. I then dress with Lexol conditioner. I have not been too impressed with the Lexol cleaner.

Lexol is good and safe. The diluted (5 or 6 to 1) Woolite solution is a good regular and safe cleaner. I personally like Zaino Z-9 and Z-10 leather in a bottle. Smells like you walked into a leather tannery or a Coach store. Be careful not to over-condition.

I have been using Autoglym leather cleaner and conditioner.

I prefer Autoglym because it dries well, leaving a matte finish to the seats... like they had from the factory.

Many leather conditioners leave the seats shiny, or even wet looking. I don't like this at all. The Autoglym never does this, however.
