Leather Key Holder for 2004-05 E60 (not available?)
#1
I have a 2005 530 that uses the conventional key. When I purchased the car I was given one key holder (with the manuals/valet key) in which the key is cradled in a leather holder with a snap on the end. When I went to the dealer to purchase an additional holder I was told that this item is no longer produced. They had a key holder for the previous generation of 5's that is too short for the E60 key.
Does anyone have this leather key holder that they are not using and would like to sell? Please PM me and I will be happy to forward payment.
Thanks!

You could also find that item on ebay for way less money then dealer prices.

For anyone else with the problem:
I too tried to get a "leather" key holder, similar to the one I had with my 3 series, only to be told that they weren't available for the 5er as the keys were longer.
The dealer gave me (yes, it was free!!) one of their own holders, the same size as the 3 series. I used a small bolt to fit the key into the holder (the original plastic fitting with BMW logo was too small to go through the 5 series key). the key does protrude a little from the bottom, but it is still better than having a key with a dangling fob.

My Ride: '04 545iS 6 spd, bought new via eBay, 11/05; Blk/Gry, Cold, L7, PDC, BMW Rear seatcover for pets.
First "Bumwa" was a new 1971 2002. High performance 5s since 1987. Beamer motorcycles too, currently on an 07 BMW K1200 GT; also a Moto Guzzi 1000 SP III.
Beware that nylon "snap" post. I used my E-39 leather key fob for while on my motorcycle, unitl the nylon snap let go IN MY POCKET and I lost one key (not ignition). Then, I switched to my E-60 fob, which has a longer bolt and is bulkier to accommodate the newer style key. So far, so good, but beware torquing that nylon snap-cap bolt as you turn your key in a lock (car or house, etc.).
Cheers,
Ray
