I've seen a lot of pictures of cars with a beige interior. The cars with a manual gearbox all have a beige leather skirt at the bottom of their gearlever while the automatic cars have black leather. Is this for all cars?
I would rather have the light leather with the auto gearbox.

To show you what I mean I have attached pictures.

This is the manual light leather.

This is the black leather for the automatic. I used one of you guys pics, I hope this isn?t a problem.

Furthermore I am thinking of getting the wooden insert in the gearlever. What do you guys think of wood?

You could solve your problems by buying a manual car.

I think the aluminum gear shift is more sporty, but the wooden knob would match the rest of the interior trim along with feeling silky smooth in your hand.

Heezy bit o.t. but the exterior colour of your car is soo nice.. I don't know it it is the picture but everytime I look at your signature i feel butterflies in my stomach (for the car, not for you of course ).

I really want a beige interior so sillergray isn't a nice combo with that interior colour.

Not yet sure what the determining factor is but, in both the US and German 5-series catalog's they show a Beige leather interior and indicate a beige skirt below the shifter on the STEP lever. The only other issue is that in both cases (US and German booklets) Poplar wood (Pappel Maser) inserts were present in the car.

In the dutch catalog it's black. And all the pictures I have seen of real cars (with pappelmasser braun holz) also have black skirts. I like the beige better because it matches the rest of the interior nicely.

It isn't a very big issue for me but I found it interesting to know if it is always black.

The photo you show of the Auto box I think is form a US model - there are no stickers on European cars (nor is there a confirmation warning on i-drive once you've fired up). You might find a European model Auto has the beige surround you're after - best way is to see one at you dealer.

If you go manual, not only will the surround be beige, but for ?100 you can get a wooden stick to match.

Regards

Gee thanks . After awhile titanium silver will be all over the place, but it's classic, easy to maintain and makes me happy.

If it's not that much, maybe you could go BMW individual, which I believe is available in Europe.

Taking some colors from the e46, I'd love to have an e60 interior with caramel or natural brown leather. And where is red exterior? Every car needs to be available in red.

So you can have an orange one in three years time and support the Holland football team?

(who said the footie is off topic?)

I've ordered the poplar gearshift knob, and will put it on when my car arrives someting early August. I looked at the wood, and the match isn't perfect, but it looks good. It's listed at $120, you can also get an insert for the rear console if you want it.
