Leaking oil cooler line - E61 N54
Brought the car into the garage last night to do the winter tire changeover and an oil change. Immediate saw oil all over the lower covers and the front of the engine - left side. Pretty clear I had a leaking oil cooler hose - didn't change them when I did my turbos a few years back because of the cost, but I'll need to do them now. Not cheap hoses. Was happy to see no oil leaks at the oil pan - so all my engine gasket changes are holding.
Oil all over the charge air pipes, alternator - left side of engine. The short line was the one that blew. Outlet hose.
Dang, do we have the same car? I was out under my N54 E61 the other day and saw oil all over the front of it and dripping off the panels underneath and it was coming from those hoses from when I did my turbos... My dealership wanted $10 each for the o-rings at the end where they go into the cooler. I finally ordered seals from FCP Euro and I'll throw them in, I don't think I will replace the hoses.
Oh, BTW, I finally got myself a QuickJack. Waited for the TLX models to be available. Ended up costing me $3,100 all in from my local NAPA, but was still about $500 less than buying from QuickJack directly. Cost a lot but I'd rather pay more to get what I want than settle for the regular SLX at Costco or Canadian Tire.
