Leaking front sway bar
#1
Had the brake vacum recall work done this week and of course the dealer had to find something! First he says the thrust rod bushings were worn and cracked and they could replace them for $740.00! I inspected them yesterday and found no signs of cracks or wear. With the car on jack stand I pulled on the wheels and there was absolutely NO play in the suspension. Next, they tell me I have a leaking in the front sway bar and they could fix this too for $2100.00! So I did notice the power steering fluid waqs a little low and there was obviously some leakage from the sway bar. But not enough to warrant spending $2100! So I cleaned up the area and made sure all the lines were tight. From what I could tell, the leak has been there for quite some time. I haven't had any warning lights or noticed any drop in performance. As long as the leak is small, I figure I can buy alot of power steering fluid fo $2100! Have any of you had the same problem with your car? Do you think there is anything to worry about?

That's the reason I never take my cars to the dealer, they always want to give you bad news and rip you off. Not had any leaks yet thank God I think my 530! was built on a Tuesday but my advise to you is " if it ain't broke don't fix it"

Tire wear is normal for 49k on the tires! Replacing them in a couple of weeks!
It still amazes me as to how matter of fact the Service Advisor was about lightening my wallet $2100 to fix a very small and slow leak! That's why I don't take any of my cars to the dealership unless they are paying for the repairs.
