Though not explicitly stated in any documentation I 've seen on this, I wonder if references to "enhanced graphics" include street names in the perspective view?
It seem that it would be a welcome addition for some of us.

Nope, it was designed to be strickly for main highways. I don't like it because you can't see anything! The other thing...the clouds don't match the current weather, a no no in my book!! Hahah

Perspective view has no advantage on "main highways".
And rather than grid-based cities, where it IS useful is in urban areas which have an "organic", twisty road system (eg almost the entireity of Europe) when you get an excellent analogue representation of the road layouts ahead.
And wasn't the "weather display" designed for LA?
