My insurance is replacing my front bumper and I'm haven't really found much information on which route to go. My ultimate goal is to have an Mtech bumper with a carbon fiber Hamman replica lip.
I've been looking at getting the OEM Mtech front bumper, as it's the same price. However, I understand that there are additional parts that I will need to purchase to make this bumper fit and I will be paying out of my pocket to get those additional parts. I'm not sure how much these parts will be, but I'm guessing not more than $400 (I don't have PDC and it's an LCI bumper). One of the reasons I wouldn't go this route is that it's going to cost extra money out of pocket, but I will know it's done with good parts.
The other route is to get an aftermarket Mtech bumper and then get the carbon fiber Hamman replia lip. The problem is that I've heard about some replicas not using the dust shields or not having the right fitment for a Hamman replica lip. I will not get a fiberglass bumper, I've too many fiberglass bumpers cracked and looking poor. One of the reasons for going down this route is that the bumper will be less expensive than the OEM Mtech bumper and I won't have to buy any additional brackets/ducts.
What kind of knowledge and experience does everyone here have?

Dude, whatever your out of pocket costs are, they will be less than if you just straight out replaced it.
Go the insurance company route, have them repair the car, work with them to discuss the idea that you would like to upgrade your bumper and you will pay the difference out of pocket. AFTER you have gotten a firm commitment on what they are going to pay. Then work with the shop so they know what you are planning.
You have a great opportunity right now. Take advantage of it!

Thanks guys!
I did this same thing on my rear bumper and got an OEM Mtech rear bumper on my car for $329 out of pocket. I got the quote, got the check, bought the parts and had it repaired. Just to be clear the one thing I don't want to do is anything illegal. I figure even if I paid 100% for all of it out of pocket, it would be cheaper than getting caught.
I've looked around and does anyone have any good recommendations on any aftermarket Mtech front bumpers that a Hamman lip will fit on?

Some a$$head hit my stock bumper cracking the paint and rear bumper. Unfortunately, my car was parked, I was at work, and it was a hit and run. State Farm checked the car out, looked for the parts in his database, and inadvertently used the part number for the MTech rear bumper instead of stock. I just paid out of pocket for the rear MTECH mounting brackets and I'm golden.
Funny thing though. The MTech rear "bumper cover" and the stock is priced just about the same. So, once the insurance company cuts you a check, it's up to you what parts you want installed.
