Just noticed a dead pixel on my new 530 (under 200 miles). It is located on the "Assistance" side (right side) of the screen.

Do you guys think the dealer would replace it. I purchased the vehicle in another city and will be bringing in to a local dealer because of the hassle.

What is the best way to handle this. I'm afraid the local dealer may be less to accommodate me since I did not buy the car from them.

Its a very complcated task to replace the screen that involves dash disassembly and may possibly cause more problems than it fixes (rattles, etc). If you can live with it, I would avoid the replacement, if not, I'm sure dealer will replace it.

Other members have had theirs replaced under warranty, for exactly this problem.

I had a scratch on my Idrive plastic screen on delivery. The dealer is replacing the entire unit. Its as complicated as removing two screws above the idrive unit and pulling the entire unit out ,then removing 2 small wiring attachments from the back of the screen. Takes about 1 minute if the dealership knows what they are doing.

I have a dead pixel on the assistance screen side too but you only can see it if you turn the monitor off. So it doesn't really bother me. Plus like TexaZ3 said it may cause more problems if you try to change the monitor out.

I was about to say "it'd take 2 minutes to replace the screen", but other members said "one minute"
Replace this screen is easiest thing on this car that you want to replace. Much easier than replacing the windshield wipers.
2 torx T-10 screws, LVDS cable removal and supply.

technik,

I will bring the car in later after I discover all the problem/warranty items to be fixed all at once. Just wondering if they need to order the lcd sreen or do most of the have it in stock. Hate to make multiple trips.

BTW, love the picture you have as your ID. Like to see a larger version..Mahalo

hehe, usually these types of items are NOT in stock, well at the dealership here in Honolulu doesn't. I suggest finding all the bugs/problems you have then making the appt. for the repair. Missing pixels on the display is not a big problem.

As for the pic... let me find it, only have the avatar image size now

I also have 1 dead pixel on my screen, it doesn't bother me that much. I will contact the dealer when there are more dead pixel show up.
